PROJECT DETAILS

Design of an integrated platform for project management, centralizing KPIs, resource tracking, documentation, and an AI-powered chat based on GPT. The platform enhances real-time strategic decision-making.

Key Information:

  • Client: Ferrovial Digital Hub

  • Tags: UX Design, UI Design, Interactive Prototypes, Usability Testing

  • Tools: Figma, FigJam, ClickUp

  • Team: Project Manager, Data Scientists, Front-end and Back-end Developers

Project Context:

Connected Work was an initiative by Ferrovial Digital Hub aimed at streamlining the management of construction projects. The platform was designed to centralize essential information, enabling project managers to:

  • Access key performance indicators (KPIs), project statuses, and worker schedules.

  • Track resources like trucks and manage documentation through Power BI.

  • Communicate effectively via a GPT-powered intelligent chat for instant support.

The goal was to transform complex business requirements into a functional, scalable, and user-centric design.

My Role:

As a Senior UX/UI Designer, I led the conceptualization, design, and validation of the platform, collaborating closely with the Project Manager, Data Science experts, and development teams. My responsibilities included:

  • Translating business requirements into clear design solutions.

  • Creating wireframes and interactive prototypes tailored to specified needs.

  • Designing a user-centered experience focused on accessibility and efficiency.

  • Facilitating usability testing to ensure the solution met stakeholder and user expectations.

Design and Development Process:

  1. Initial Analysis:

    • Reviewed detailed documentation to identify key functionalities like KPI tracking, resource localization, and document management.

    • Conducted stakeholder sessions to clarify priorities and establish clear project objectives.

  2. Conceptualization and Structure:

    • Developed a sitemap to ensure intuitive navigation between sections like KPIs, project statuses, and GPT chat.

    • Mapped user flows for critical tasks such as project data queries and document validation.

    • Created low-fidelity wireframes as a foundation for validation with the business team.

  3. Visual Design and Prototyping:

    • Designed a professional UI, prioritizing visual hierarchy for quick access to critical information.

    • Incorporated interactive components like dynamic maps and graphical data visualizations.

    • Built a high-fidelity prototype in Figma, allowing stakeholders to experience the platform's functionality.

  4. Accessibility and Scalability:

    • Implemented WCAG 2.1 standards to ensure functionality for users of all abilities.

    • Designed a modular system for seamless integration of new features like additional indicators or sections.

  5. Data Integration and Collaboration:

    • Worked closely with technical teams to ensure smooth integration of designs with existing APIs and databases.

    • Validated prototypes with real data visualizations to identify and resolve inconsistencies.

  6. Testing and Validation:

    • Conducted usability tests with real users (project managers) to assess navigation and functionality.

    • Iterated designs based on feedback, improving data organization, visual response times, and graphical clarity.

    • Presented a refined prototype to stakeholders for final validation before implementation.

Project Impact:

The Connected Work platform became an essential tool for Ferrovial project managers, offering an intuitive and functional interface that:

  • Reduced the time needed to access key KPIs and important documentation.

  • Enhanced strategic decision-making through clear and visually appealing data presentation.

  • Facilitated communication and collaboration with a GPT-integrated chat for immediate assistance.

Additionally, the platform's scalable design allows for the seamless addition of new functionalities in future iterations.
